Strikalite Lighters
Strikalite lighters are vintage cigarette lighters, primarily known as collectible table or desk lighters produced in the United States, mainly from the 1930s to the 1940s. Founded in 1934 by Harvey Avedon in New York, Strikalite specialized in novelty and volume-priced lighters, often featuring unique designs and materials like Bakelite, Catalin, Lucite, glass, and wood. They are distinct from modern striker lighters, which use a flint wheel to create sparks, as Strikalite lighters were primarily wick-based, petrol-fueled models, with some semi-automatic designs inspired by the Quercia Éclair.
